Charlie Kim

Strategic Advisor

Charlie Kim’s passion is building better datasets and tools to enable personalized medicine, and he works with diverse organizations across the life science industry, including startups, investors, and nonprofits. With a background in immunology, multi-omics, pathology, biomarker discovery, diagnostics, and AI, he works to move beyond one-size-fits-all healthcare. He serves as the Chief Scientific Officer of Tesorai, who is building AI tools for molecular analysis to accelerate life science research and drug development.

In his previous role at Google[x] and Verily, Kim launched and led the Molecular Science program, driving business lines in immunogenomics, proteomics, and pathology. His team developed platforms such as Immune Profiler, designed to map immune function and inform therapeutic development, and deployed them in large-scale observational research and clinical trials. At Verily, he also led the PRESCO study during the COVID-19 pandemic, which helped us to understand the immunological mechanisms underlying severe and long COVID, and co-authored a recent multi-modal study highlighting new protein biomarkers for diabetes.

Educated at UCSF and Stanford, Kim’s journey has taken him from academia to biotech leadership and trusted advisor. Additionally, he advises non-profit organizations like the Human Immunome Project and The Michael J. Fox Foundation on their scientific and data strategies to accelerate biomarker discovery and therapeutic breakthroughs, with a focus on translating breakthrough science into real impact for neurodegenerative and immunological diseases.
