HIP Impact Session – Davos 2026

Open-science initiative makes the case for mapping the human immunome as the next frontier in medicine

DAVOS, SWITZERLAND – January 21, 2026 — The Human Immunome Project (HIP) was invited to host a dedicated Impact Session at Frontiers Science House, the World Economic Forum’s science-focused venue on the Davos promenade, during its 56th Annual Meeting, January 19-23rd, 2026. HIP Executive Chair Jane Metcalfe and Co-Chief Scientific Officer Shai Shen-Orr (Technion) led the session, alongside a related panel on the promise of multi-omic mapping.

Highlights:

  • HIP’s core argument: the human genome is 99.9% identical across people — what differs, and what shapes disease and treatment outcomes, is the immunome.
  • The session positioned HIP’s open-science, population-scale approach as foundational infrastructure for global health, comparable in ambition to CERN and the Human Genome Project.
